Preble Co. Business Target Of Smash-And-Grab

EATON, Ohio —

Deputies in Preble County are looking for a man who broke into a local convenience store and stole a lot of cigarettes.

The smash-and-grab happened at the Marathon gas station at the intersection of routes 127 and 40 north of Eaton.

Deputies said a masked man entered the business, but makes a small mistake by not pulling his mask down over his face until about 20 seconds after he is in the store.

Investigators said the man started piling cartons of cigarettes into a container that he dragged in through the broken glass soor.

Deputies said the man only spend about 90 seconds. They said the thief is described as a white male with sideburns and possibly a mustache.

Authorities said the business has been victimized twice in the last month. They are looking to see if the same man may have committed both burglaries.

If you have any information on the identity of the man in the surveillance video, contact the Preble County Sheriff’s office at 456-6262.
