Probe Of Drug Ring Prompts DEA Raid

DAYTON, Ohio —

The Drug Enforcement Agency raided seven homes Friday morning as part of an ongoing probe into a major drug ring operating in multiple Miami Valley counties.

Around 7 a.m. agents raided homes in Montgomery, Greene and Miami counties. The raids were a follow-up to more than 20 raids that were conducted in January.

In all locations, the lead agent of the local DEA office said authorities found only minimal amounts of marijuana and cocaine. Officials said agents were mostly looking for cash and documents connected to the large-scale operation.

Authorities said they found approximately $60,000 in cash. They said some cars were also seized, but there were no arrests.

Agents said they will be reviewing the items that were seized on Friday with raids that were conducted in the past. Agents said this is a sophisticated operation, operating for a long time in the area, bringing mostly marijuana from Mexico.

The raids that were done in January included 20 locations where agents seized bags of marijuana.

Agents said, even with Friday's raid, the investigation is not over.
