Rain Contributes To Semi Overturning

CLARK COUNTY, Ohio —

Rain-soaked roads are being blamed for numerous crashes on local roads, including one where a semi overturned on northbound Interstate 675 headed toward eastbound I-70.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the semi slid off the entrance ramp to I-70 and down an embankment. The trailer stayed upright, but the cab went sideways into some standing water, trapping the driver.

Darran Conley said, “He’s a good friend of mine. Good guy and a good driver.”

However, the driver needed help from firefighters in order to get out safely.

Fire Chief David Leist said, “He was trapped due to the cab. The crews had to cut the windshield and they were able to get him out of the truck.”

Leist said the crash caused the truck to leak about 100 gallons of diesel fuel. Crews used booms and pads to help clean up the fuel.

The rain made the roads slick and led to numerous crashes around the region. “Temperatures are dropping, making things slick now,” Conley said.

The driver appeared to be in good shape. He was able to walk away from the wreckage.
