Rain will bring the return of cold weather

MIAMI VALLEY —

Our brief return to late Indian Summer comes to an end Monday, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs.

She said temperatures this past weekend were over 10 degrees above normal, with highs in the upper 60s.

“Unfortunately as we head through the overnight” said Vrydaghs, “Big changes are on the way.”

“Say goodbye to this mild weather come Monday morning” she added, “as a cold front will bring rain, wind and much cooler temperatures.”

Overnight, Vrydaghs said conditions will be windy and mild with increasing clouds. Temperatures will fall into the mid-50s by Monday morning. Winds will be between 20-25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Vrydaghs said rain will arrive in the northwestern counties before 8 a.m., then spread southeast through the morning. It will taper off by afternoon, she added.

She said there will be a drastic cool down from the cold front as temperatures fall from the 50s into the 30s by day’s end. Vrydaghs said winds will calm down as well. Look for overnight Monday lows in the 20s.

For the rest of the week, Vrydaghs said dry weather is in store. But temperatures will struggle to reach highs in the 40s through Thursday.

She said the Miami Valley could see a high in the low 50s by Friday.
