RICHMOND —

Everyone escaped injury after an early Monday morning house fire at 6277 Smyrna Road.

Richmond firefighters were called to the fire just after 1 a.m. Richmond Battalion Fire Chief Tim Brown said the fire started in the garage, and moved to the house. He added there was heavy smoke and flames when firefighters arrived.

Brown called in mutual aid from Preble and Darke counties for tankers. There is no water service along that section of Smyrna Road.

No word yet on what started the fire, which remains under investigation.
