Richmond City Worker Accused Of Misusing Credit Card

RICHMOND, Indiana —

A former Richmond city worker pleaded guilty to theft after she was accused of using a city credit card for her own personal use.

Julie Smitson, 44, worked for the Richmond Street Department. Police said she charged $2,500 worth of tools and garden supplies to the city’s credit card.

Smitson was fired by the city last June and arrested a month later. She faces two years in prison when she is sentenced in August.

Smitson had already been convicted in Madison County, Ind., of a similar crime in 2004.
