Roaming dog leads to drug arrest

DAYTON —

An officer looking for the owner of a pit bull roaming loose in a Dayton neighborhood ended up arresting a man on drug charges.

An officer found the pit bull in the area of St Paul Avenue and Clover Street after a citizen complained about the dog, which appeared aggressive. The officer witnessed a man order the dog back inside a house in the 800 block of Clover Street, according to a police report.

The officer made contact with the man, who said the dog was not his. While the officer was conducting a search on the man, he found an antenna commonly used to smoke crack cocaine, according to the report. The man admitted it was a crack pipe to police.

A marijuana pipe was also located on the man, according to the report.

The man was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
