RTA Operations Continue At Normal Despite Increased Gas Prices

DAYTON, Ohio —

Officials at the Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority said that operations with the RTA will continue as normal despite an increase in gas prices across the region.

At this time, they plan on not changing any routes or fares. Mike Kelly with RTA said his personnel are ready to provide additional runs to handle any increases in passenger traffic if needed.

Kelly said they have been tracking gas prices since they hit $2.50 a gallon. He said preliminary results indicate passenger traffic has increased about 20,000 to 30,000 over last year at this time.

Officials said they have received an increase in phone calls and e-mails asking for bus route schedules.
