Semi lunges over embankment, spills fuel

PREBLE COUNTY —

A semi tractor trailer driver pulled into the Interstate 70 eastbound rest area near the Indiana state line and something caused the vehicle to move forward over an embankment, according to officials.

The female driver entered the rest area around 1 a.m. Wednesday and after parking, the semi lunged forward over an embankment and one of the truck’s fuel tanks ruptured during the incident.

The fuel tank was connected to the vehicle’s refrigeration unit.

A small amount of diesel fuel spilled at the rest area and firefighters were called to assist with the clean up.

No injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
