Services set for local grad who died in Peru

SPRINGFIELD —

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Rachel Ianni, the Catholic Central High School and Wittenberg graduate who died News Year’s Day after a fall in Peru.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 E. High St., Springfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Fr. Greg Konerman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations may be made to the Rachel Ianni Memorial for graduate internships in Biology, NSU Foundation.

Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 2074 Thibodaux, LA 70310 or Catholic Central High School, 1200 E. High St., Springfield, Ohio 45505.

Ianni, 26, died while hiking with her boyfriend Zachary Taylor near Machu Picchu in Peru. According to an obituary on the Conroy Funeral Home website she was, “living out one of her dreams of visiting Machu Picchu, The Amazon Rainforest, and the Galapagos Islands.” She leaves behind parents Juliann and Tony Ianni and siblings Allison and James.
