Dayton house fire under investigation

DAYTON —

The improper use of an extension cord is likely to blame for a fire at a Dayton home Monday morning, according to fire officials.

Fire crews responded to 751 Ferguson Ave. just after 7 a.m. today. Those first on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the home.

According to fire officials, a woman found a fire inside an upstairs bedroom after she heard a loud “pop.”

The fire was caused from an extension cord that was hooked up to a space heater, officials said.

No one was injured.
