Springfield Company To Close

CLARK COUNTY, Ohio —

Some Clark County workers will spend the new year looking for new jobs.

The Auto Truck Transport Corporation on Urbana Road north of Springfield will close in the next few days and 186 workers will lose their jobs.

Employee Shane Hall said, "We're very angry because we've been here for five years. We're vested in our pension plan, getting settled in and now we're looking for jobs again."

ATT moved assembled trucks from the International plant across the street to their destinations across the country.

Hall and other employees said their company lost its contract with International and will close within the next couple of days.

Clark County leaders are optimistic another company will move in and hire many of the displaced workers.

Hall plans to move into a new field.

He said, "I'm going to try to go back to school to get an education and change careers. There's not a lot of jobs for what we do."

County leaders hope others will follow.

Commissioner John Detrick said, "We're in a changing world. There are a lot of new trades out there. Go back and get education and stay positive."
