Springfield gas station target of theft

SPRINGFIELD —

Someone broke into a Springfield gas station early Wednesday morning and stole several items.

At 1:46 a.m., police responded to the BP Gas Station at 2300 South Limestone Street and discovered the safety glass on the south door of the business had been broken, according to a police report.

Police were able to view surveillance video, which showed a single male suspect enter the business and remove packages of cigarettes, lottery tickets and a beverage from the cooler before exiting through the broken glass door, according to the report.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a mask.
