SPRINGFIELD —

A man wanted on charges of child neglect and other charges was arrested Tuesday after a brief standoff with Springfield police.

Acting on a tip, officers responded at approximately 5 p.m. to 1207 W. Pleasant St., where DeShaun Taylor, 32, had been living.

Taylor was wanted by Clark County on a charge of driving under suspension and by Cuyahoga County on charges of child neglect and failure to pay child support, according to Springfield Lt. Jeff Meyer.

Taylor answered the door but then shut it after refusing to confirm his identity for officers, Meyer said.

Special weapons and tactics officers were called after the man let two children, ages 8 and 10, out the back door and barricaded himself inside, Meyer said.

According to video recorded by a witness on scene, a group of SWAT officers entered the home after one officer kicked in the front door.

Meyer said the suspect opened the door at the same time and was taken into custody without incident.

Meyer said Taylor had been staying at the home with his girlfriend and her children.

He has been booked into the Clark County Jail. In addition to the warrants, he could be charged with obstructing official business, falsification and child endangering.
