Columbus —

Authorities are expected to reveal details today on an ongoing investigation into state Rep. Clayton Luckie, a Dayton Democrat who in August agreed to take his name off the ballot for re-election this fall, sources said on Tuesday.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien has scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference Wednesday with Edward Hanko, agent in charge of the FBI’s Cincinnati office, to announce results of an ongoing corruption investigation conducted by FBI agents in the Columbus office.

O’Brien declined to disclose any details or whether the press conference is related to Luckie.

In August, both O’Brien and Luckie issued statements confirming that Luckie was under criminal investigation.

Earlier this year, Columbus-area state lawmaker W. Carlton Weddington resigned and pled guilty to bribery and other charges and promised to cooperate with investigators. Weddington had been and Luckie is still a member of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.

Luckie agreed to not run for re-election and Montgomery County Democrats picked former state lawmaker Fred Strahorn to run in his place against Republican Jeff Wellbaum in the 39th House district, which includes most of the city of Dayton.

Before going to the Ohio House, Luckie spent 10 years on the Dayton School Board. He lives in the Wright-Dunbar Historic District and works part-time for JEC Paper & Related Products where he made less than $10,000 last year, according to his financial disclosure statement filed with the state. His state representative job pays $68,000 a year.
