Stolen Pickup Truck Involved in Darke Co. Crash

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio —

A pickup truck, reported stolen from Preble County, veered left of center causing a head-on crash Friday morning on State Route 49, just north of Abbottsville near Arcanum in Darke County.

The driver of the stolen truck was identified by Darke County deputies as James Ray Parker, 34, address unknown. He was flown from the scene aboard Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries.

The truck slammed into another pick-up truck driven by Bruce A. Hart, 58, Arcanum. He was treated for minor injuries at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.

The accident remains under investigation with charges pending, said Sgt. Chuck Stebbins.

Three hours earlier, another crash involving two cars sent one person to Miami Valley Hospital In Dayton. The crash happened on Red River West Grove Rd. and Pitsburg-Laura Rd. near Pitsburg.

A car pulled from the intersection into the path of a sports utility vehicle. Darke County deputies also handled that investgation.

The crash was reported to Darke County 911 at 7:50 a.m. Friday, while the second crash was reported at 10:51 a.m.
