Stubborn Fire Destroys Home In Miami County

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio —

Fire investigators from Laura have blamed an electrical short for a fire Tuesday afternoon that heavily damaged a house north of the village of Potsdam. The fire started at the rear of the structure in the area of a breezeway and the garage, according to Laura Fire Chief Ken Saunders.

It was the home of Richard Johnson at 4719 State Route 721.

Firefighters were on the scene for six hours.

Laura received mutual aid from neighboring fire departments from Miami, Darke and Montgomery counties to include the communities of West Milton, Ludlow Falls, Pleasant Hill, Phillipsburg, Arcanum and Pitsburg.

There were no injuries.
