TROY —

A student struck by a vehicle near Troy High School this morning was transported by CareFlight to Children’s Hospital in Dayton.

Police said the victim was a 12-year-old girl who is a 7th-grader at Troy Junior High School. She was walking in a crosswalk when she was struck by a van shortly after 7 a.m.

Emergency crews responded to North Market Street and CareFlight was called as a precautionary measure after the student hit her head on the pavement.

Her injuries were not serious, according to police.

The driver of the van was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk by Troy Police.
