Suspect Formally Charged in Baseball Attack

DAYTON, Ohio —

A man accused of beating another man with a baseball bat and striking a woman and her newborn baby has been formally charged.

Nick Slusser, 32, was indicted of three counts of felonious assault, and two misdemeanor assault counts.

Slusser is accused of beating 60-year-old Robert Pearson with a bat on the morning after witnesses told Dayton police that Slusser knocked down his girlfriend her infant daughter.

Pearson remains in critical condition. Slusser is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
