Suspect In Alleged Purse-Snatching Surrenders

XENIA, Ohio —

A woman wanted for allegedly trying to grab a 92-year-old woman’s purse turned herself in to police over the weekend, and appeared before a judge on Monday.

Kacy Wilson, 31, is wanted in connection with several other purse-snatchings in addition to the unsuccessful attack on the elderly woman.

Wilson was not only wanted in connection with trying to take the elderly woman’s purse, but she became a prime suspect in a purse-snatching at Dorothy Lane Market in Oakwood.

Wilson appeared in court in the city of Xenia. She faces a felony robbery charge because of what police said she did in a Wal-Mart store parking lot on April 17.

Detectives said Wilson was captured on surveillance video trying to take a woman’s purse. They said when the woman refused, Wilson threatened to shoot her.

Days later, Oakwood police released surveillance video from Dorothy Lane Market on Far Hills Avenue. The video shows a woman grabbing a purse out of another woman’s shopping cart.

Wilson told the judge on Monday that she is a drug addict, and has been for a couple of years. When the judge announced that prosecutors wanted a $50,000 bond, Wilson basically admitted to the thefts, despite the judge’s warning that what she said could be used against her.

The judge left Wilson’s bond at $50,000 without the 10 percent clause, so she would have to pay the full amount to be released.

A number of detectives from different agencies want to talk to Wilson about other possible purse-snatchings and petty crimes.
