DAYTON, Ohio —
"Tech Town" is adding yet another building and supporters say it will support new industry and new jobs here.
The unveiling Monday morning, kicked off plans for a third building at Monument and Taylor in downtown Dayton.
It will be a smart office building. Smart because of its energy efficiency and extras like a fast internet network for technology companies. .
Dayton City Commissioner Matt Joseph said, "It's going to house innovative businesses, technology based businesses. Most of them small businesses and its another step in building the next economy of Dayton."
It will join the first building that has already attracted tennants that work in all kinds of research fields.
They include one company that designs, builds and files unmanned aerial vehicles, small, remote-controlled planes that can take video and pictures in the air. Another company works with high definition photography for city planning and homeland security.
A second building is already under construction and now, number three is on the drawing board.
Steve Nutt, Senior Vice President of Citywide Development said, "It's being designed so that it's a collaborative building and campus so that we get all of the technology of folks working together. We think that's the way the creative process works, bumping shoulders with somebody on a different project. They find out there's a real opportunity to work together."
The schedule calls for construction to begin soon and completion was set for next summer.
