Teen Identified In Fatal Shelby Co. Crash

By Jill Del Greco

SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio —

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has identified the teenager killed in a Saturday evening crash.

The accident happened at about 9 p.m., just west of the intersection of Heiland-Kies Road and Lock Two Road, southeast of Botkins.

Investigators said Jacob Freisthler, 18, went off the right side of the road, over-corrected to the left and then rolled into a field. Officers said the vehicle struck a small ditch and overturned, rolling three to four times before coming to rest.

Officers said Freisthler was not wearing and seatbelt, was ejected from the car and pinned underneath.

Investigators believe excessive speed appears to be the cause of the accident and there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
