Testimony began Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of shooting a teenager.
Ronald Shulte is accused of shooting then 16-year-old George Shaw in the back of the leg in July.
He is also accused of firing a shot missing Shaw's younger brother Daniel, age 14.
A jury will now have to decide if Schulte shot at the teens or fired a warning shot into the air.
And if the teens were cutting through his yard or attempting to burglarize his home.
The incident happened on Maple Street off Peters Road just south of Troy.
Schulte, whose car was ransacked two nights before, claims he fired a single warning shot aimed at the ground and had no intentions of hitting anyone.
Prosecutors claim that Schulte loaded a deer slug in the gun, yelled at the boys, shouldered the shotgun and fired at George Shaw.
Shaw had to have his right leg 6 inches below the knee amputated and his big toe on his left foot, changing his life forever.
The trial continues Wednesday morning.
If convicted as charged, Schulte could face as many as eight years in prison.
