Three men arrested for solicitation

DAYTON —

Three men were arrested Friday on soliciting charges after they allegedly answered an ad on Backpage.com.

Dayton police said they posted an ad offering companionship and posted photographs of scantily-dressed women. They used a female police officer to answer the telephone. Officers also set up an apartment where the men answering the ad could visit.

Officers said three men responded to the ad, and called the number listed in the ad. When they arrived, the men were arrested.

Benjamin R. Prater, 37, Russell D. Whitney, 46, and David F. Leary, 52, face misdemeanor counts of soliciting. Officers also confiscated the money the men brought with them as evidence. Their vehicles were also towed, and they were booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
