Authorities believe 18-year-old Scott Moody shot his grandparents, mother, sister and two friends before killing himself early Sunday, hours before he and one of the victims were to graduate from high school. Sheriff Michael Henry said Moody went to a neighboring farmhouse and killed his grandparents with a .22 caliber rifle and then came back home where he committed the other shootings.

His 15-year-old sister, Stacy Moody, remains in critical condition at a Columbus hospital.

Tim Lyden -- longtime agriculture teacher at Riverside High School in nearby DeGraff -- said the shootings left residents numb.

Lyden and four of his other students spent part of their Memorial Day somberly tending livestock at the farm where the shootings happened. He said Scott Moody's family enjoyed entering animals in dairy shows at the state fair and other venues.

A fund has been established to help shooting survivor Stacy Moody. If you would like to make a donation, visit People’s Savings and Loan in West Liberty.
