Traffic Snarled After Semi Overturns On I-75

DAYTON, Ohio —

Authorities said a semi truck overturned in Dayton Monday and caused a major traffic problem on two major roadways.

The accident happened as the semi merged onto southbound Interstate 75 from Route 4 around noon when the driver lost control.

Capt. Fred Mars said the truck went over on its side and slid 100 yards into the guardrail. The accident snarled traffic, leaving drivers frustrated.

Authorities said the semi was loaded with rolls of sheet metal.

Officials said considering the potential for damage to other vehicles and what could have happened to the driver, it was a fairly good outcome for a bad situation.

Authorities said the truck's entire load was moved by hand -- 10 pairs of hands onto another trailer and sent on its way. They said the driver of the semi was cited for failure to control his vehicle.
