Traffic stop leads to Darke Co. robbery arrest

DARKE COUNTY —

A 46-year-old New Madison woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly assaulted and robbed a man inside his home.

Around 2 p.m. Julie A. Cockrell allegedly entered the man’s home on Hollansburg Tampico Road, according to deputies. Cockrell asked the victim for money, but the man refused and that’s when Cockrell reportedly assaulted him, deputies said.

According to deputies, Cockrell took the money by force and left the residence. Officers located a suspect vehicle in the area of U.S. 36 near Crumrine Road and performed a traffic stop.

Cockrell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Darke County Jail, where she is being held without bond. Cockrell is facing robbery charges, according to deputies.
