Dayton —

New court dates have been scheduled for ex-funeral home director Scherrie McLin, who is facing 17 felony charges related to a fraud investigation concerning $200,000 in missing funds.

McLin, 54 of Trotwood appeared alongside her attorney Clyde Bennett II in front of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Katherine Huffman this morning.

On Friday, a bondsman with Smith Bonds and Surety posted a $250,000 cash bond to free McLin from a Montgomery County Jail cell. She had served 15 days.

She surrendered to law enforcement 10 days after an arrest warrant was issued against her on Feb. 12.

McLin’s next court date is 9:30 a.m. April 9 for another scheduling conference. A final pre-trial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 4.

Her trial is scheduled to start June 17 and is expected to last for two weeks.

McLin ‘s indictment came after a Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office investigation of $200,000 in missing prepaid funeral contract funds that she handled while operating the now closed McLin Funeral Home Inc., 2801 N. Gettysburg Ave.

McLin’s funeral director license and the funeral home’s license were permanently revoked by the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors last year after it was revealed that McLin violated nine state laws and administrative codes.

McLin faces charges of grand theft, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, tampering with government records, forgery, violating preneed contracts and theft from an elderly or disabled adult.
