Troy Sports Center moves back after fire

TROY, Ohio —

Five months after a fire in downtown Troy that was minutes away from possibly destroying a historic building, life is back to almost normal in the southwest quadrant of Troy’s Public Square.

During the early-morning hours of April 30, smoke and flames were spotted coming from the Troy Sports Center. Fire officials said that someone spotted the flames just in time and called 911. Now, five months later, the Troy Sports Center is back in their original space just in time to celebrate their 25th anniversary in business in November.

Troy Main Street is the last organization to move back into their offices after the fire.

Fire officials said an electrical short in the area of a display case in the Sports Center caused the accidental fire.
