Troy students tour local manufacturing facility

TROY, Ohio —

October 5 is National Manufacturing Day, which is a day set aside to encourage the workforce to look at a career in manufacturing.

On Friday morning, a group of students from Troy High School took the opportunity to learn more about it.

The first stop for the juniors and seniors was the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, where they discovered welding as an import skill when looking for a career in manufacturing.

Nationally, there is a shortage of entry-level workers. Why, because a lot of people don’t meet the basic requirements for employment. Workers don’t meet the basic academic skills, the ability to attend work regularly and cannot pass a drug test. This problem is national.

Manufacturing is a solid, long-term career choice for qualified candidates.
