The University of Cincinnati student declared missing Friday afternoon because no one had seen her on campus for six days has been found safe — in Dayton.

Glory Hagerty, 18, of Mason was last seen leaving her residence hall on UC’s main campus in Clifton shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, according to UC police.

The alert and investigation ended Friday at about 7 p.m.

“She and some other friends decided on a spur-of-the-moment trip up to Dayton,” UCPD Lt. Col. Jeff Corcoran said.

Friday afternoon, one of Hagerty’s friends saw the news coverage about the missing student alert and asked, ‘Hey, do you know you’re missing?’ ” Corcoran said.

Hagerty called UC police, who put her in touch with her mother.

Police initially believed she was in the company of an unknown male.

“The roommates thought they knew the name of the young man she had gone out with that night. We’ve been in contact with him, and it turns out that it’s not who she was with,” the lieutenant colonel said. “(She is) apparently a good student, doesn’t have a history of not showing up for class. There’s just no indication to us that this was a planned trip.”

The police department does not anticipate pursuing any criminal charges — inducing panic, for example, Corcoran said.

There was no immediate word whether Hagerty was still in Dayton, at home with her mother or back on campus in her dorm room, where she had left most of her belongings.

“From the police department’s perspective, we’re happy she’s OK,” Corcoran said. “I don’t see that she did nothing wrong — at least from the legal standpoint.”
