Versailles Police Officer Fired For "Sexting"

VERSAILLES, Ohio —

A police officer in Darke County was fired for violating the department's policy on "sexting."

The Mayor of Versailles fired officer Clayton Hurd after the police chief made the recommendation that Hurd be terminated.

City leaders said Hurd committed moral and ethical violations and face false testimony.

Hurd was allegedly "sexting" and sending inappropriate content to an acquaintance.

The city attorney said Versailles is sending a message that "sexting" is unacceptable, especially for public servants.

Hurd had worked with the Versailles Police Department since February of 2003.
