Veterans make final trip to war memorials in D.C.

PIQUA, Ohio —

The final trip sending veterans in Miami County to Washington D.C. to see their war memorials rolled out of Piqua on Friday morning.

Organizers said there were 32 veterans from World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War who left Friday morning in a project called The Mission: Veterans to D.C.

This will be the final trip. So far, there have been 11 trips with more than 350 veterans being sent to Washington D.C. Veterans have been going to D.C. for the past five years with all expenses paid.

The trip means a lot to veterans as most of them have never been to Washington D.C.

They left the Miami Valley Center Mall with a police and motorcycle escort. The veterans will return on Sunday night.
