Victim Questioned About Facts Of Overnight Shooting

DAYTON, Ohio —

Police are questioning a man’s story about how he was shot overnight.

Officers said the 42-year-old man told them he was inside a home on Edison Street when he heard a man force his way in through a back door. He said the man was looking for a young woman.

The victim told police he was shot twice as he shoved the intruder out. Dayton police said the victim walked to a relative’s house on Huron to call for help.

Officers believe that is not really what happened.

Sgt. Whitney Butler said, “Evidence at the scene does not lead us to believe the shooting happened inside the house. At this point, investigators will go to the hospital and talk to the victim to determine what actually happened.”

The victim is recovering from a gunshot would to the arm and buttocks.
