JONESBORO, Arkansas —
Prosecutors released the video Wednesday as part of a preliminary report clearing police of wrongdoing in the fatal shootings of Jerry Kane and his 16-year-old son.
The video is taken from Officer Bill Evans' SUV dashboard. It begins with apparently a standard traffic stop. The video shows Jerry Kane leaving his minivan at Evans' request.
Joseph comes out of the passenger side moments later firing an AK-47. He fires for less than a minute, then gets back in the van with his father.
Evans and Sgt. Brandon Paudert were killed in the traffic stop. Police later shot and killed the Kanes.
The Kanes are from Springfield and once lived on Limestone Street. The property is now only a field.
Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly said he remembers Jerry Kane very well.
According to an earlier reports, the Kanes were traveling the country hosting seminars on how to avoid foreclosure.
