Wamer temperatures expected for weekend

Clouds continue to gradually move in the area this evening, and that will keep temperatures up slightly overnight compared to the last two evenings, said NewsCenter 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

The viewing area will wake up Wednesday to readings in the low to mid-30s instead. Chances for overnight rain are slim, as showers are expected to be confined to areas west of the Indiana line, said Simpson. However, showers will be gone by sunrise Wednesday.

The return of afternoon sun looks more definitive now with high temperatures near 50, Simpson said.

Thursday morning lows are expected to range from the upper 20s to lower 30s. Thursday afternoon will be sunny but cool. Temperatures will begin to rise Friday for a warmer weekend, said Simpson.

Temperatures could reach the 60s Friday afternoon, and climb to the mid-60s Saturday and Sunday, Simpson said. Mostly sunny skies are expected throughout the weekend, although Sunday afternoon may get a bit breezy, he said.

“I encourage everyone to enjoy the weekend as a cold front Monday will bring showers and likely some thunderstorms as well,” said Simpson. Behind the cold front the viewing area will feel much cooler air Tuesday with some areas possibly seeing afternoon highs below 50.
