Woman finds suspected burglar in home

HARRISON TOWNSHIP —

A woman came home Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of Nottingham Drive and encountered a big surprise. There was a suspected burglar in her house.

The woman, who asked that we only use her first name, said she came home and found her back door open. Ann thought her grandson had let himself into the house.

She quickly found out it was an unwelcome guest.

“You think it won’t happen to you but it does” Ann said.

She said the alleged burglar was a young man in his late teens.

“Who are you and why are you in my house?” she asked.

“And he said my name is John and he grabbed the bag and I tried to stop him but he got around me.”

Ann then called 911, but the suspect got away on foot in the few moments it took for Montgomery County deputies to arrive.

She said the suspect had rifled through her bedroom and closets. He got away with some video games and a pair of diamond earrings she had purchased as Christmas presents for her grandchildren.

“Makes you sad. Because your peace of mind’s been violated. Your house has been violated. Your house has been invaded and if you’re not safe at home, where can you feel safe at?” she asked.

Ann continued “I’m not going to live in fear and I’m not going to live being scared all the time. Just not going to do that.”

A high ranking source in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday night that there are no arrests yet in the case.
