Notes and nuggets:

-- The Reds will be looking to win their first postseason series since the 1995 NLDS, while San Francisco will be looking to advance to the NLCS for the first time since 2010.

-- Dating back to the 2010 postseason the Giants have now won eight of their last 10 playoff road contests, including four in a row.

-- Cincinnati will be looking to avoid becoming the first team ever to take a 2-0 lead in a five-game series and lose the next three games all at home. The Reds have not lost three consecutive home games all season.

-- Matt Cain has six losses in 11 career starts against the Reds and has lost each of his last three starts overall against them (includes postseason).

-- Mat Latos came on in relief in Game 1 after Johnny Cueto's Game 1 start was cut short by an oblique issue. Latos tossed four innings while allowing just one run and four hits in that contest. Latos went 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in two starts against the Giants this season.

-- Ryan Ludwick, who has homered in two of his last three games, is 8-for-22 with one double, three homers and six RBI in his career against Matt Cain.

-- Tickets for today's game were selling for as low as $3 on sites such at stubhub.com

-- Many Reds fans who want to email photos or post to Facebook and other social media sites during this week's baseball playoff games are experiencing failure to communicate. Full report
