DAYTON, Ohio —

Teachers in the Dayton Public School District and other across Ohio will be taking attendance and making sure that students are in class next week.

The state will hold its Count Week during the first full week in October. The state uses daily attendance records to determine the level of funding that each district will receive next year.

Dayton’s interim superintendent said it is very important for all students to be in class.

Every parent with a child in the Dayton school district will receive two phone calls to remind them that count week is next week.

The district is also offering incentive to get children to class, such as dress down days and pizza parties.
