Ft. Wayne, Indiana —
Dayton starting pitcher Josh Ravin (2-5) walked eight batters over three and one-third innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out two to take the loss.
Fort Wayne’s Justin Baum connected on a first inning two-run double after a pair of Ravin walks to give the Wizards an early lead of 2-0.
Dayton got on the board in the top of the second inning. Kevyn Feiner was hit by a pitch with one out and scored when Justin Reed hit a ball to the fence in left-center field. Reed was thrown out at third on the play and credited with an RBI double as Dayton pulled to within a run at 2-1.
Fort Wayne scored four runs in the fourth inning as Dragons pitchers tied a club record by issuing five walks in the inning. The Wizards increased their lead to 6-1.
Dayton’s Anthony Gressick drilled a one-out home run in the ninth, his third of the year, to close out the scoring. The Dragons have hit home runs in 15 of their last 16 games.
The 13 walks drawn by the Wizards were the most by any Midwest League team in a game this season and two short of the Dragons club record for walks allowed in a game.
The Dragons travel to Midland, Michigan to take on the Great Lakes Loons in the start of a four game series on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Luis Montano (7-5, 4.31) will start for Dayton.
