UD, WSU Athletes To Compete At NCAA Track Championships

University of Dayton senior thrower Mallory Barnes earned a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet for the second consecutive season.

Barnes, who had a school record-breaking throw of 196-03, placed seventh out of 12 qualifiers in the hammer throw on Thursday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the Indiana University campus. Her qualifying mark came on her first throw of the day.

Cassandra Lloyd, a junior on the Wright State track team, qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet in the 100 meter hurdles with a 10th place finish in the quarterfinals Saturday at the NCAA East Regional Meet.

Lloyd also set a school record in the event with a time of 13.18.

Both will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete Thursday in the championships. The meet is scheduled for June 8-11.
