Wright St. Ends Regular Season With Win Over UW-Green Bay

The Wright State University men's basketball team recorded its highest point total in three years and freshman Jordan Pleiman scored a career-best 21 points in a 94-80 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay in a Horizon League game at WSU's Nutter Center Sunday.

The Raiders most recent high score was against the same Phoenix in a 96-73 win on Jan. 19, 2002. Pleiman eclipsed his previous career high on Jan. 26 against Illinois-Chicago.

The game was also the final regular season home game for the Raiders lone senior Zach Williams, who scored 19 points.

"It was a special day here at Wright State," Raider coach Paul Biancardi said. "It was special because it was our last regular season home game and we had a senior that was very special to all of us. We wanted to make it a special occasion and I think it turned out that way. We played very unselfish on offense and we got the rebounds when we needed to."

Drew Burleson also scored 19 points, while DaShaun Wood added 15 and Zakee Boyd scored 14. Wood and Pleiman each grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

The first half saw a pair of ties and nine lead changes, but the Raiders took a 42-38 halftime lead. The first seven minutes of the second half saw four more ties and six lead changes before the Raiders pulled away with seven straight points to take a 59-52 lead with 11:30 remaining. WSU hit 13 of 18 free throws in the final 1:40 to ice the game.

Matt Rhode led Wisconsin Green Bay (17-10 overall, 10-6 Horizon) with 19 points, while Javier Mendiburu added 17. Josh Lawrence added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Wright State ends the regular season 14-14 overall and 8-8 in the Horizon League. The Raiders host Butler Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship.
