A few spotty light showers will stick around this evening and river levels will begin to recede Tuesday.

That’s good news for areas that got as much as 1.25 inches of rain on top of the snow. The additional rain and meltoff contributed to high water levels in area streams and creeks.

Flood advisories in Warren and Butler counties have been canceled, according to Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

High water levels will begin to recede gradually on Tuesday, Simpson said.

The steady rain flooded farm fields in Miami and Logan counties.

Streams and creeks were running high along Ohio 235 from New Carlisle to Russells Point. The low parts of farm fields were deep underwater along the route.

Factory Road remained closed Monday afternoon because of high water.

“Looking at some of the river forecasts from the NWS, the rise is only expected to get a little higher tonight, then start to fall by sunrise,” said Simpson. “No significant flooding is expected, but we may get a few more spots with some minor spillover onto roads.”

Colder air arrives overnight and a few more light rain showers could change to a few light snow showers by sunrise, Simpson said. Overnight temperatures will only fall to 32 degrees so no snow should stick or cause slick spots on roadways.

Any snow showers taper off by noon and we’ll stay mostly cloudy the rest of the day Tuesday with a high near 40 degrees.

Another batch of snow showers arrives overnight tomorrow night into Wednesday morning.

Lows Wednesday will be in the upper 20s, so that presents the only opportunity for some light snow to stick. “Accumulation will be a coating at most,” Simpson said.

Clouds linger Wednesday – the coldest day this week with highs in the mid-30s – but sun will return Thursday, followed by more clouds Friday.

Highs Thursday will be in the low 40s and upper 40s Friday.

A minor cool down comes Saturday with highs in the mid-40s after a weak cold front brings more rain showers Friday night into early Saturday morning.

“I do expect some sun to return Saturday afternoon,” Simpson said.
