Fatal CrashTroopers and Firefighters said the rain had stopped, but the road surface was still wet when they got a call about a car going off the road.Investigators said it appears that the 37-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed head-on into a tree near Clifton Road. Motorists who passed the crash scene called for help.Fire officials said the man hit a sign that indicated a curve was coming and also may have flipped the vehicle several times. Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seat belt.Troopers began collecting evidence at the scene to help determine what caused the driver to lose control and go off the road. They said there are a series of curves in the area and troopers knew that the road was still wet from late-day rain showers. The name of the driver has not been released.According to troopers, wet roads, speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. They said they are looking to see if the man suffered a medical condition or if he fell asleep at the wheel.
