Fairborn Man Gets 10 Years In Homicide Case

XENIA, Ohio -- A Fairborn man is going to prison for suffocating his pregnant girlfriend while they were having sex.Anthony Shuri, 31, was originally charged with murder, but on Wednesday morning he pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide.Shuri was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He received five years for each count of reckless homicide for choking Heather Skelly, 24, during a sex act last November.Investigators said Skelly became unconscious and died. She was about five months pregnant with Shuri’s second child. His attorney said his client never meant to harm Skelly.However, friends of Skelly said her relationship with Shuri was sometimes volatile.Skelly and Shuri’s 2-year-old son is staying with Shuri’s mother who is out of state.
