POSTED: 2:24 pm EDT May 19, 2008
UPDATED: 2:34 pm EDT May 19, 2008

Good Samaritan Hospital (Dayton) announced Monday that it has completed the acquisition of the assets of Dayton Heart Hospital in a purchase valued at $55 million. Good Samaritan took over operations of Dayton Heart Hospital at midnight on Sunday, May 18. Dayton Heart Hospital’s nearly 350 employees, who have been asked to continue in their current roles, will become Good Samaritan employees.

Dayton Heart Hospital, now to be called “Dayton Heart and Vascular Hospital, Owned and Operated by Good Samaritan Hospital,” will remain in its current location at 707 Edwin C. Moses Blvd. until Fall 2009, when its services and staff will be integrated into the $31 million heart and vascular facility currently under construction on the Good Samaritan Hospital campus at 2222 Philadelphia Drive.

“There will be no disruption of service during the change of ownership and transition. Our goal remains the same: to deliver the best possible care,” said James R. Pancoast, president and chief executive officer of Good Samaritan. “Patients of the Dayton Heart and Vascular Hospital will continue to benefit from the patient-focused, physician-led care that has made this facility so successful, and patients also will benefit from the added support and acute-care capabilities of Good Samaritan Hospital.”

Additionally, as a result of the acquisition, there has been a significant increase in the number of insurance plans accepted at Dayton Heart and Vascular Hospital.
