DAYTON, Ohio -- Montgomery County Commissioners Dodge, Foley and Lieberman, along with the County Auditor Karl Keith, kicked off amnesty week for dog license sales Friday, August 15 at the Animal Resource center's Bark Park on Webster Street.

The amnesty program encourages dog owners to license their dogs, avoiding the late penalty and pay only the $16.00 license fee, not the additional $16.00.

Proceeds from the licenses help the Animal Resource Center to care for stray and lost animals, spay and neuter every animal that leaves the center, and provide animal control services.

County officials also said dog licenses for the 2009 license, which go on sale December 1, will not increase in cost.

Amnesty dog licenses will be sold at the Animal Resource Center, SICSA, Humane Society of Greater Dayton and at the Auditor's Office in the County Administration building from Friday, August 15 to Saturday, August 24.

The Center also has a wide variety of pets available for adoption. Dogs and cats of all sizes and colors are ready for a new home and come with a health check, spay or neuter, microchip and standard vaccinations.

A Montgomery County license can be traced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from a link with the Montgomery County Auditor.
