Secretary Of State: Late Voting Rush Expected

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said she expects a late rush of voters to finish off a day of balloting that could set a new turnout record.

Brunner said voting was very heavy with sporadic problems.

Brunner, in a mid-afternoon briefing for reporters at the Ohio Statehouse, said some voters were waiting outside of polling places as early as 3 a.m.

“It’s good there was good weather last night,” Brunner said.

She expects the long lines at the polls will return as people go to vote Tuesday evening.

“Anyone who is waiting in line at 7:30 p.m. when the polls close will be able to vote. We have included this in the poll worker information that at 7:30 p.m. a poll worker should go to the end of the line to mark the last person in line and also to be in position to turn others away because the polls are closed,” Brunner said.
