DAYTON, Ohio -- Have you decided how you're voting on State Issue 3?It is the most controversial measure on Tuesday's ballot, bringing four gambling casinos to Ohio. The main pitch for Issue 3 is the economy. Supporters say if you want to help with the state's unemployment program, this is is part of the solution. From the beginning, the vote yes commercials have promoted the number of jobs to be created and some voters said it led them to give their support.Kelly Thornton said, "I think it's a good idea. All of the layoffs now, if it's going to make new jobs we should be all for it."Critics have also hit the airwaves questioning those employment claims, and some Miami Valley lawmakers are now speaking out against it.Seth Morgan said, "We need new jobs in this state. We need to regain a robust economy. Using gambling to fix our budget is, I don't think, the answer."Congressman Mike Turner said, "I'm opposed to Issue 3. I voted against it. People need to ask, is this good for Ohio families? It's not. Is it good for the economy? It's not. This is not an answer for the people of Ohio and people should vote this down."If Issue 3 passes, the casinos would be built in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo.Politicians in many of those cities have been split over the advertised economic benefits and the possible negatives of casinos.Tuesday's vote will make the fifth time casinos have been on Ohio's ballot since 1990.Early polling showed a majority support for Issue 3.
