Tigers Demote Pitchers Tata, McBride

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers optioned right-handed pitcher Jordan Tata and left-handed pitcher Macay McBride to Triple-A Toledo Saturday, purchasing the contracts of righthanders Eulogio De La Cruz and Aquilino Lopez to replace them on the roster.

In three starts with the Tigers, Tata went 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA. The rookie was tagged for seven earned runs in his start Friday night, and did not make it out of the third inning.

McBride was also a knocked around in Detroit's 16-10 loss to Oakland Friday, allowing four runs in two innings. The lefty surrendered a go-ahead grand slam to A's designated hitter Jack Cust in the sixth inning. On the season, McBride has gone 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA in 38 appearances.

In 6 2/3 innings pitched for the Tigers this season, De La Cruz has allowed five earned runs on ten hits. Lopez has a 4.26 ERA in 12 2/3 innings of work for the club.
